On a beautiful winters day at Ison Park Fourth Grade Mariners had a top of the table clash against the Blackbirds. The game started well for both teams with each team scoring a valuable run in the first innings.
Second innings was done in quick succession with both teams mirroring each other once again, both teams not troubling the scoring.
Third innings things started to change, Blackbirds having three nice hits bringing in two runs. Unfortunately for Mariners they couldn’t trouble the scorers in the third.
Fourth innings Mariners had a pitching change after lead off pitcher Andrew Pearson had battled hard but had had enough. Relief pitcher Austin Raymond kept blackbirds to only cross the plate once. Bottom of the fourth innings Mariners staged a mini fight back bringing in two runs with a nice double hit from Jordan Butfield.
Coming into the final innings with Blackbirds holding only a one run lead. Blackbirds showed why they are the competition leaders bringing in a massive nine runs with the highlight being a massive home run over the right field fence by Patrick Hammond. Mariners could only manage one run with Blackbirds taking a well-deserved 13/4 win.

Pitchers were Andrew Pearson with 66 pitches including 34 strikes and 3 strike outs and Austin Raymond with 68 pitches including 38 strikes and 2 strike outs.
