On a wild windy day at Dalton Park Fairy Meadow Mariners travelled to take on the Pirates.
Mariners started with the bats. The first two batters getting on base and with some solid base running managed to score.
Mariners started with Andrew Pearson on the mound but with some nice hits from pirates 3rd,4th and 5th batters pirates replied well getting two runs of their own.
Second innings Jordan Butfield produced a hit out to left field getting on base. Unfortunately Pirates managed to get the next three batters out but not before Jordan Butfield managing to score.
Bottom of the second innings Andrew Pearson showed his class on the mound getting the first three batters he faced out to retire the side.
The top of the third innings the flood gates started to open for Mariners with a lot of the team having hits with the best being from Austin Raymond with his stand up triple.
Andrew Pearson’s next pitching innings was another nice performance getting another couple of strikeouts not allowing Pirates to score.
The next couple of innings Mariners once again showed their dominance with the bats hitting the ball around the park but slowing down on the scoring for the respect of the other team and the game of baseball.
Resting Andrew Pearson for the next innings Mariners brought on closer Austin Raymond who did a great job getting every batter out he face for the next two innings.
Both teams needed players from the lower grades to help out which is always appreciated but Mariners managed to be to strong on the day getting the win 15/2
The highlight of the day was the performance of both Mariners pitchers dominance on the mound. Between them getting 9 strikeouts out of the 15 out for the day.
