Mariners hosted the Dapto Chiefs at Ison park Nowra on Sunday.
Mariners mixed things up this week with Austin Raymond starting the pitching. Austin Raymond did a fine job but unfortunately the field started flat letting Dapto Chiefs put 4 runs on the board straight up.
In response Mariners bats fired back bringing five runs in of their own.
Second innings started the same as the first some uncharacteristic errors in the field from Mariners allowed Dapto to bring in more runs.
Once again Mariners bats replied with a nice double from Austin Raymond starting the innings with more hits to follow bringing in runs.
Third innings both teams didn’t score any runs only Mariners batter Leith Grant put a ball in play.
Fourth innings it was the same old story from the Mariners doing it tuff today more errors letting Dapto score more runs.
Fifth and final innings closing pitcher Andrew Pearson did the job expected shutting down Dapto’s bats not letting them score.
With Mariners having to score runs to win Dalton Haines started well getting on base straight away.
That is where Mariners fight back stopped with the next three batters getting out. With the game ending with Dapto chiefs getting the win 9/7
In and error filled game by Mariners there was some stand out players. Heath Peters doing a great job catching especially that he hasn’t caught for a long time. Greg Symanns having three hits from three at bats.
No doubt with Mariners great spirit they will band together next week and hopefully be back in the winner’s circle.
Austin Raymond had the only double hit of the game for Mariners with Singles going to Heath Peters, Dalton Haines, Brian Cremin, Leith Grant and Greg Symmans (3)
Pitchers Austin Raymond 84 pitches 55 strikes and 4 strikeouts. Andrew Pearson 16 pitches 9 strikes and 2 strikeouts
