On a fine Sunday morning celebrating the Illawarra breast aware pink round at Fred Finch Park Mariners took on Dapto Panthers.
Mariners started on the back foot with low numbers making players from the lower grade step up and help them out. It was Mariners turn to take the bats first with hits from Heath Peters and Leith Grant helping bring in three runs to start the game.
An error in the field proved costly for Mariners allowing two runs in for the Panthers.
Second innings Mariners continued to make the scorers work with a nice stand up double from Stuart Raymond and single from Heath Peters bringing in more runs.
Starting pitcher for Mariners Andrew Pearson shut Panthers down not allowing them to score.
Next innings Mariners brought another run across the plate with Larissa El-helou getting on base with nice pitch selection and getting brought around the bases with some sacrifice hitting from team mates.
Andrew Pearson still kept Panthers guessing in the batters box not allowing them to score.
Panthers made a pitching change bringing Andrew Jardine to the mound which proved successful not allowing Mariners to score.
The next two innings became a pitching duel with both pitchers doing a fine job not allowing either team to score.
Last innings Mariners bats were still left wanting, not creating any runs
Panthers staged a fight back with two out Andrew Pearson not allowed to pitch anymore due to pitching restrictions and Mariners regular closing pitch unavailable Brian Cremin put his hand up to close out the game.
Brian Cremin did what he had to do after a stellar performance from Andrew Pearson making Panthers fall short by one run letting Mariners walk away with the win 6/5
