The Shoalhaven Mariners Major 2nd grade travelled to Berkeley and returned to the winners circle on Saturday, boasting a 9-0 win against the Berkeley Eagles 2B side.

What a difference a week can make as Mariners starting pitcher Brenton McMahon made amends  for a poor performance the week before. McMahon returned to the mound and pitched 4 innings of 1 hit shutout baseball, striking out 6 along the way.
Mariners hitters did well after stranding two on base in the first inning piling on 8 runs in the second inning. Michael Vine and Kieran Harris both with key 2 RBI hits. Other hits through the game going to Andrew Provest, Edan Kelly, Marcus Atkinson and Brenton McMahon, all with one each.

Although the Mariners were only able to add one additional run in the third inning, relief pitcher Marcus Atkinson did a great job of closing out the game. Atkinson retiring the eagles in order in the bottom of the fifth inning and keeping the shut out in order for the Mariners.

Next Saturday the Mariners will host the Dapto Panthers at Ison Park Baseball field.
