Shoalhaven Mariners Major 2nd grade had their game transferred to Ison Park at South Nowra on Saturday to play Berkeley Eagles 2A side.
Mariners started the innings off batting with Sam De Meyer getting on base from a walk then Andrew Provest had a 2 base hit to left field bringing De Meyer home for the first run of the game. Our next three batters were sat down. Eagles first batter Troy Fleming had a single to left field to start them off but with some tight fielding from Mariners, Eagles were retired with no runs.
Second innings saw Mariners bats firing with Kyle French and Nicholas Fisher both having a safe double hit each along with Marcus Atkinson, Gabe Tate and Brenton McMahon having safe singles , Mariners bringing in 8 runs. In the field Mariners turned a double play between Andrew Provest, Kyle French and Jordan Butfield holding Eagles scoreless.
Third innings Mariners batted through their line up again with Michael Vine and Brenton McMahon both having a double to left field with Mariners bringing in 5 runs. In response Eagles Troy Fleming had a safe double and an error in Mariners field Eagles were able to score 2 runs.
The fourth saw Mariners bring 1 run across and holding Eagles from scoring. The fifth and final innings Mariners were held scoreless while Eagles scored 1 run with safe hits from Jackson Lewer and Stephanie Lewer. Mariners taking the win 15-3.
Pitching duties were shared between Brenton McMahon 55 pitches 28 strikes with 5 strikeouts and Andrew Provest 41 pitches 23 strikes and 3 strikeouts who were both backed well by catcher Edan Kelly.
