On a surprising sunny Sunday 4th grade Mariners travelled to Cringila to take on the Wollongong Cardinals. Mariners started with the bats. First three batters had nice hits but unfortunately straight to fielders, scoring no runs. Cardinals started with their bats a lot better. With Mark Pearson punching a ball out to right field getting on base. Mariners starting pitcher Andrew Pearson struggled walking four out of the next five next batters. Andrew then got the next batters out not before Cardinals scored two runs.
The next innings Cardinals shut Mariners down again not allowing Mariners to score. Cardinals were also shut down not troubling the scorers.
Third innings started with Mariners lead off batter Austin Raymond getting a nice stand up double.
With the next two batters getting hits and an error from Cardinals allowed Mariners to get their first runs on the board. When it was Cardinals time to bat Andrew Pearson showed his maturity battling back from a poor start shutting down Cardinals once again not allowing Cardinals to score.
Fourth innings Cardinals pitcher Drew Behr started to tire allowing mariners to start teeing off with the bats bringing in more runs. Cardinals tried to fight back but with a great double play between Bruce Jones and Bianca Cotter shut Cardinals down quickly.
Final inning was Mariners best with five safe hits bringing in a massive six runs. Last at bats for Cardinals Andrew Pearson shut them down fast ending the game with Mariners winning the game 11/3
