Sunday Shoalhaven Mariners Minor 2nd Grade played Dapto Chiefs at home Ison Park in cold windy conditions.
Chiefs started the game with the bats but were retired early due to some strong pitching and fielding from Mariners Andrew Pearson who clearly shone in the field holding Chiefs scoreless. David Crowley started Mariners batting with a 3 base hit out to right field although Mariners unable to score keeping the score 0-0.
Second innings Andrew Pearson dominated on the mound holding Chiefs score line while Mariners bats came alive working through the complete line up forcing Dapto errors. Leith Grant having 2 safe single hits going to leftfield and 3rd base also scoring a runner with the score line of 7-0 to Mariners.
Third innings saw some team work between Andrew Pearson and Greg Symmans to hold out Chiefs runners while Mariners bats went to work with Greg Symmans and Andrew Pearson having hits , with Mariners scoring another 2 runs bringing the score to 9-0.
The fourth innings once again saw a tight field not allowing Chiefs to score. Leith Grant hit a double to left field with Greg Symmans having a single to right field with Mariners able to score 1 run .
Fifth innings saw Chiefs John Briscoe have their only hit of the game out to centre field again unable to score with Pearson’s dominance on the mound. Andrew Pearson and Ben Campbell both having safe hits with Mariners scoring 3 runs giving Mariners a win of 13 -1
Andrew Pearson had an excellent day on the mound throwing 88 pitches 53 strikes and 10 strikeouts.
