Mariners Minor 3rd grade started to day off on Sunday at Ison Park taking on the Northern Pirates.
Mariners started the game off fielding with Pirates having 2 nice safe hits along with some nice fielding from Mariners Tausia Antonio, Amber Palmer and Chris Palmer with Pirates gaining 3 runs. Mariners bats forced some errors in the field for Pirates allowing Mariners to bring in 2 runs.
The second inning saw Pirates have another 2 hits gaining another 2 runs across with David Crowley taking a nice catch in centre field and Kalysta Palmer making a nice play at third base, with Mariners only hit for the second innings going to Chris Keith.
Third innings was fairly tight with Pirates having only 1 safe hit bringing 1 run in and in reply Mariners had 4 safe hits bringing in 3 runs.
The fourth innings Mariners started to struggle . Switching the pitching around and Pirates batting through their batting line up nearly twice bringing in 11 runs with 5 safe hits. To finish Mariners had to work hard , batting through their line up and having 5 safe hits with 3 across. David Crowley made the last play of the game which resulted in a solo double play taking 2 outs himself after fielding the ball , tagging the runner then running back to first base to take the second out. Mariners bats came out strong having 5 safe hits
Catching duties went to Anthony Burgess who also made a catcher caught stealing.
Tausia Antonia pitched 3 innings 84 pitches 50 strikes and 2 strikeouts. Mariners then had newcomers to the mound, David Crowley and Chris Keith step up and share an innings.
Mariners only double hit of the game going to Tausia Antonio and singles to Amber Palmer (2), Shaun Carr (2), Anthony Burgess (2), Tausia Antonio, Tony Provest, Chris Keith and Kalysta Palmer.
