Fourth Grade travelled to Fred Finch Park at Berkeley on Father’s Day to take on the Warriors. Mariners turn to start didn’t go well with Warriors getting three quick outs. Warriors fared a lot better with a couple of nice hits and an error. Warriors took the early lead.
Second innings saw Mariners start on a positive note. A nice hit from Leith Grant then scoring two quick runs. A nice double play by Warriors shut the Mariners down. Tight play meant Warriors couldn’t trouble the scorers.
Third innings Mariners added one more to their tally with hits from Leith Grant and Matt Moore. Warriors replied adding to their lead with good hitting and base running to add five more runs. Mariners 3, Warriors 10.
Coming into the fourth and final innings Mariners never say die attitude prevailed. With Warriors pitching tiring and some great hitting Mariners brought in an impressive 8 runs. Warriors stepped up to the plate trailing for the first time in the game. Mariners managed to hold them off taking a hrad fought 11-10 win.
Mariners hits went to Matt Moore(2), Leith Grant (2), Stuart Raymond (2), Jordan Buttfield and Andrew Pearson.
Pitching was shared by Andrew Pearson with 52 pitches, 23 strikes and 3 strikeouts and Austin Raymond also with 52 pitches, but 24 strikes and 1 strikeout.
