Second Grade took the field with nothing to lose on Saturday. Dan Kelly pitched, Kai Meuronen played catcher, Bailey Biden on first. The first two innings tight baseball was played by both teams. Both teams crossed the plate but neither took the lead.
In the third some laughter crept into the game and despite some good hits and some stolen bases Mariners could not cross the plate for a run. Pirates, on the other hand took advantage of relaxed play and the lead. The game continued as a display of the fun you can have with baseball. Pirates would continue on their winning way to take the match 8-2.
Pitchers were Dan Kelly, Lee Lawson and Bailey Biden.
