On a cold miserable day Shoalhaven Mariners First Grade Minors hosted Northern Pirates at Ison park south Nowra.
Pirates started with their bats, they started strong with their first three batters getting on base with safe hits ready to score but Mariners pitcher Andrew Pearson fort back well only allowing one run across and getting 3 out of the next 4 batters out.
Mariners replied with Birthday boy Austin Raymond getting on base straight away then with a nice double from Matt Moore allowed Austin Raymond to score. Immediately followed up with another hit from Leith Grant scoring Matt Moore allowing Mariners to take a slight lead of one run.
Second innings Andrew Pearson continued his good pitching but unfortunately the field let him down with Pirates putting and extra 3 runs on the board. Not to be out done with another impressive batting display by Mariners they replied with 4 runs of their own.
Third innings both teams did not trouble the scorers, with no runs scored by either team
Forth innings Andrew Pearson continued his dominance on the mound still stopping Pirates from scoring in that innings. Mariners came out strong with their bats bringing in another 3 runs.
Fifth innings Pirates started their fight back with a nice double from Brendan Sheedy scoring 2 runs whittling away mariners lead, with Mariners unable to put any runs over.
Sixth innings Pirates continued with their fight back putting on another 2 runs but falling short of Mariners total by one with Mariners taking the win 9/8.
Triple hits going to Matt Moore and Brian Cremin. Doubles went to Matt Moore, Jordan Buttfield and Singles to Austin Raymond (2), Leith Grant (2), Matt Moore, Andrew Pearson, Greg Symmans and Larissa El-Helou
Pitching started with Andrew Pearson 76 pitches 49 strikes and 7 strikes outs. Austin Raymond 43 pitches 21 strikes and 1 strike out.
